Bellapais is a small village in northern Cyprus, about four miles from Kyrenia. The jewel in the whole village is Bellapais Abbey - the abbey of peace. It is a most imposing ruin in a wonderful situation commanding a long view down to Kyrenia and the sea. Above the abbey lies the charming village of Bellapais. Tiny lanes and narrow streets crisscross haphazardly away from the main square and scattered amongst the whitewashed buildings are many excellent cafes and bistros. |

The house is walking distance from the monastery and there are lots of places to visit in the surrounding area including crusader castles, old sea ports, a nature reserve (including turtle beaches). The 12th century monastery has weekly concerts in the high season. There are several good bars and restaurants in the village within easy walking distance. Kyrenia itself is a small and attractive town with a port. For practical purposes there is a small supermarket in Bellapais and a larger one about 3km out of the village. Lots of opportunity for watersports in the surrounding area. |

Getting There:
| You can fly either to Ercan (Kyrenia) from where it’s a 20 minute taxi journey to Bellapais, or you can fly to Larnaca in South Cyprus and get a taxi from there (approx 1hr 20 minutes). The owner is happy to make any necessary taxi bookings. |

The house has two bedrooms (one twin and one double) as well as a comfortable sofa bed which can accommodate an extra person if necessary. The dining and sitting room both easily seat six people, and all linen and cleaning is provided by the owner.

We thoroughly enjoyed your wonderful house in Bellapais, and we did meet Cengis who came to water the garden. He also took excellent care of us when we dined a couple of nights at Kybele Restaurant (really marvelous by the way, with great food and service, and spectacular views!). Our favorite restaurants in Bellapais were Kybele and BellaMoon. We dined at both a few times. Also, we finally discovered that the big restaurant on the square has WiFi which we used a few times towards the end of our stay. Serhan was also very helpful, offering to help us sort out flights if necessary. Many thanks again for having such a wonderful Bellapais house, so well located and well looked after.
