Casa Sienna is set on the edge of a tiny village called Sovijnac on top of a hill. The village is best described as 'sleepy', and contains a small restaurant and a tiny shop that sells its own wine. Sienna is perfectly placed for lovers of great cuisine. Within walking distance (10 minutes) is one of the finest restaurants you will find in Europe, with a choice of a cosy, candle-lit dining room and a wonderful outdoor dining area surrounded by the vines that enable its owner to make their own wine that accompanies each of seven exquisite courses. This is but one of a number of restaurants in the area, each of which has a unique ambience and a menu that is never short of truffles! |

Buzet's clay tennis courts are a short drive away and can be booked in advance. A six-hole golf course and driving range are tucked away in a valley near Motovun. Eighteen hole courses can be found on the eco-friendly Veli Brijun island, or on the Italian border near Trieste. Istria has the largest peninsula in the Adriatic. The coast is a short drive from the villa, and provides opportunities to sail, swim, dive, and sample the very freshest seafood. We provide a bicycle for every guest in each villa, so that you can explore the local hills as a group. There are endless opportunities to walk around these wonderful hills. There is hardly a corner to turn that does not unveil a majestic view. You are just a twenty minute drive from Pula's growing alternative scene which is based in Rojc by Gajeva. Venice is only a two hour trip by boat from the coast. |

It has four large bedrooms (two doubles and two twins), three of which have en suite bathrooms. Its open plan kitchen, dining area and living room open out on to the veranda and pool area. It has satellite television (including TotalTV), exquisite garden furniture, and ample room for a party of ten to sit inside, reading, playing games or watching DVDs. The house and pool are cleaned regularly, and every bedsheet, fixture and fitting is of the highest quality.

The property is located on a large plot with three other villas (with other owners) but each villa has its own pool, outside space and grass area, with a hedge in between each. The garden furniture is high quality from Italy.

Istria sits in the northwest of Croatia. It has in common with Tuscany beautiful rolling hills on which are perched fabulous medieval towns. Unlike Tuscany and the better known parts of Croatia like the Dalmatian coast, Istria remains blissfully unblemished by the mainstream European tourist trail, which means that it retains its local character throughout the year. Istria's roads are empty and modern, its food is fantastic, and its climate is delightful. The villa is self-catering. However, temptation is never more than a few minutes away. The local restaurants are superb. This is the heart of truffle country. It also gets first pick of seafood fished from the Adriatic. We'll put you in touch with cosy, quiet restaurants, tucked away from the road. We can also arrange for a chef to come and cook for you in your own villa. Each May, Motovun hosts Istria’s annual hot air balloon festival. This isn't just spectacular to watch, but you have the opportunity to take an exhilarating hot air balloon ride over Istria’s wonderful countryside. With its stone buildings and spectacular, unblemished views, Motovun itself could be a film set. In July every year, the town hosts a film festival. This is a five-day film marathon in which screenings run from 10am until 4am, with evening outdoor screenings and daily shows in theatres.

"I spent a wonderful week in Casa Sienna with six friends last Autumn. Within minutes of arriving at the villa, I felt part of something magical. The sun shone, the pool glistened, and we walked down to dinner at one of the most incredible restaurants I have ever experienced. The days that followed merged into a haven of relaxation. The group split up each morning to explore Istria and play golf, tennis and sail. By mid-afternoon, we'd gather by the pool and doze in the freshest air imaginable. I can't wait to go back again."

We had a wonderful memorable time in Croatia and thoroughly enjoyed staying at Villa Sienna. Truly magnificent medieval villages are within easy reach by car and the villa itself is comfortable and well appointed, with great views of the stunning surrounding countryside. There are heaps of things to do with the kids, whether snorkelling in the very clear coastal water or racing around in go-karts. For adults, a trip to the nearby health spa is a must where the “Magic Honey Massage”, which involved being coated in oil and honey and wrapped in cling film was an unexpected treat. The food is excellent, particularly if truffles are your thing, though I would recommend staying away from the tourist menus in the coastal towns. Olive oil can be bought from the local farms and is some of the very best in Europe. Overall, a hugely successful holiday in unspoilt and peaceful surroundings – who could ask for more?

We had a very nice stay in Casa Sienna. It's a lovely house in a nice area and in case we would visit Istria again, I'm sure one of your houses will be of interest. Istria is great alternative to people who like Provence and Tuscany, similar lovely environment and nice villages.
