General Info |
|
| |
Surrounded by a lake, mountains, and woods, Bad Aussee is an old market town and spa in the ‘green heart’ of the Salzkammergut. Most people come here for its high altitude -- 650m (2,133 ft.) above sea level, and its profusion of hiking trails that are clearly marked with green-and-white signs. From this spa, you can explore the Altaussee, one of the most beautiful bodies of water in Styria, which faces the Totes Gebirge. Bad Aussee lies amid a network of lakes in the Valley of Traun, with the peaks of the Totes Gebirge and the Dachstein massif visible in the distance. The best time to visit is in June, when fields of narcissus burst into bloom, one of the most spectacular signs of spring coming to Europe. |

Details on the area surrounding the property/accommodation |
|
| |
The town of Bad Aussee is about 1km from the apartment (15 mins walk down the hill and around 25mins up!) One of Austria's most beautiful areas, the town is a good centre for walking and climbing in summer. Although Bad Aussee has long been known as a summer spa town, it has also developed into a winter ski centre. Several ski lifts are located nearby, making it attractive to ski enthusiasts. Facilities include many restaurants, mini-golf, horse-riding and cycling, tennis, sailing, swimming, boat tours, salt-mine visits, medieval frescoes in churches and marked walks up the mountains or around the lakes. There is skiing and other winter sports activities within 30 minutes drive from the apartment. A visit to Hallstatt, one of the most beautiful villages in Europe (8 miles by train) is a must; or go up the Dachstein by cable-car and see the glacier and the prehistoric caves. |
